Introducción
The FDA has approved the oral fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) inhibitor lirafugratinib (Lyrfigtu) for adults with previously treated cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) that has FGFR2 fusion or other rearrangements. This new option was announced by the agency on Wednesday.
This approval is for use in cases of unresectable, locally advanced, or metastatic CCA, a type of bile duct cancer. Annually, around 8,000 new cases of CCA are diagnosed in the United States.
